Dear you,
It felt only natural that my second Letter to you should be about my first five months in Oslo.
I finally moved to Oslo on friday 4th of april.
My brother joined me for this journey, during which I was about to discover what would become my new everyday life : the walk from the station to my apartment, my neighborhood, the little shops where I’d buy my fruit, vegetables, and morning coffee…
I still remember our arrival in the early evening, hands full of bags. We found the tram, crossed the city, and reached my new neighborhood.
Then came the moment we opened the door to my apartment. Small, warm… and with a terrace offering an incredible view over the mountains, the fjord, and a wide lake. Wow. I think Côme was just as amazed as I was !
As the sun set, painting the sky in soft pinks, we wandered back out and found a Mexican restaurant. Our first glass of wine here, in Oslo ! A toast to this new life that had just begun.
The weekend was glorious, bathed in unexpected sunshine, as if the city had decided to welcome us. We spent it with friends who had also moved here a few months earlier.
Then came the moment of goodbye. On the train back from the airport, there I was, just me, full of emotions and excitement for whatever was to come.
The following two weeks were dedicated to discovering the city, creating small routines, and shaping my home so that it truly felt like mine. I was quickly charmed by Oslo’s gentle pace and open spaces. I felt peaceful, aligned with this new environment.
I had decided 2025 would be a beautiful year and I could already feel good things ahead.
My first job here was with Stromma, the company behind the bright red double-decker sightseeing buses. A lovely coincidence, as I have always loved those buses.
For a month, I roamed the streets of Oslo, meeting visitors and sharing in their wonder.
I met amazing colleagues there, many of whom have become friends.
Then, one day, over coffee at Oslo RAW, a bright and cozy spot, I knew I would love to work there. The business, founded by an inspiring female entrepreneur, shared many of my values.
A few weeks later, I was hired !
After a summer at the Frogner café, September brought an exciting shift:
half my time in the main kitchen, half in the coffee shops and even the opportunity to help design an event at the end of August.
Today, September 15th, as I publish this letter, I feel truly at home.
My apartment has become my little haven.
I’ve met people I believe will become dear friends.
And I’m loving this new professional chapter that is unfolding. ✨
With love,
Camille
